The Vicente Faria Company
The history of Vicente Faria Vinhos began in the Douro Valley and has been passed down through 7 generations. At the end of the 18th century, the Vicente Faria family established itself in the Douro region and became one of the first families to produce the best wines of the Douro Valley, ranging from the now famous Port to other amazing red wines.
According to UNESCO, the Douro Valley is the oldest demarcated wine region in the world. It is believed that the production of wine in the Douro Valley has lasted for more than 2000 years.
The climate of this region, together with the specific soil, allows a high quality production of wine, but in smaller quantities. Nevertheless, this should not spoil our values, because we are proud to use only sustainable farming methods without irrigation and fertilization. We believe that there should be no compromise between quality and sustainability. In every bottle of Vicente Faria you will be able to taste the best of the Douro Valley wines.
Our winemaker
Our winemaker, Vicente Leite de Faria, is a 7th generation winemaker, and few people know and make wine like he does.
As a child, he learned the secrets of wine from his grandfather on the slopes of the Douro Valley and dedicated his entire academic and professional career to winemaking.
Driven by his passion for wine, Vicente Faria studied enology in Bordeaux and Portugal. Vicente is able to combine the best of both worlds and achieve exceptional wines.
Vicente is also an advocate of carefully controlled production and believes in using only sustainable farming methods. For Vicente, the main goal should be to produce remarkable wines, but always with much respect for the tradition and terroir of the oldest demarcated wine region in the world, the Douro.
As our winemaker, Vicente Faria has a history of 200 years and has produced and sold around 250 million bottles of wine worldwide. Vicente is a leading producer in Portugal and an internationally recognized winemaker.
